YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash.-Two people were hospitalized after a truck versus semi crash on SR 97 on Aug. 1.
Washington State Patrol Troopers responded to the crash near milepost 46, about 14 miles south of Toppenish around 4:53 p.m.
The driver of a 2018 Ford F-150 was driving southbound on SR 97 when they crossed into the northbound lane to try and pass another car and hit the semi, according to the WSP.
The driver of the truck, a 43-year-old Silverton, Oregon woman and her passenger, a 43-year-old Colton, Oregon man were both taken to Yakima Memorial Hospital after the crash.
The 32-year-old driver of the semi from Wood Village, Oregon was not injured in the crash. The Ford F-150 and the semi and trailer were all totaled in the crash.
According to the WSP, the official cause of the crash was unsafe passing and negligent driving charges may be pending against the driver of the F-150.
