SELAH, Wash. – Fire crews responded to two different brush fires near the Yakima/Selah I-82 interchange on Tuesday.

Selah Fire Chief Jim Lange says both fires are under control and burned in areas that were difficult to access due to thick vegetation.

On the east side of I-82, one fire burned two acres and is 80 percent contained. The fire was reported at 6 a.m.

Later at 8:30 a.m., the second fire was discovered on the west side of I-82. The fire has burned four acres and is 95 percent contained.

Lange says both fires will continue to burn and produce smoke throughout the night. Crews will remain at the fires overnight.

No injuries or damaged structures were reported. Both fires are under investigation by the Selah Fire Department.

Crews from the Department of Natural Resources and the Yakima Fire Department helped in controlling the fires, according to Lange.
