RICHLAND, Wash.- Tumbleweeds Mexican Flair gave Thanksgiving meals to those in need.

Tumbleweeds is a local Richland restaurant that gives hundreds of free meals to those in need. The restaurant calls the meals “community pans.” Tumbleweeds customer, Samantha Machaeo, picked up a meal on one of the pick-up days.

“I have friends out there that could use it. That do not eat often. Work a lot of hours and I know a healthy meal like this can help for a day or two,” Machaeo said.

Tumbleweeds manager, Brenton Nundahl, said that it took a village of staff, donors and volunteers to make this community project happen.

“All of a sudden it was message after message of people like ‘how can we continue to do this? This is awesome.’ We set up an online ordering link for people to just purchase pans to be able to give out to people and it blew up and to date we’re at like over 450 pans,” Nundahl said.

The community pans are take and bake enchiladas with beef, chicken, pork and cheese options. It also came with a bag of kettle corn donated by Popcorn Northwest, another Richland business.
