YAKIMA, Wash.-The Yakama Nation is hosting an educational Salmon Camp July 29-Aug. 31 at Camp Chaparral.
A project of the Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission, Salmon Camp attendees will learn about the science of salmon, as well as Tribal Salmon Culture and will have the opportunity to participate in a stream restoration project.
Salmon Camp participants will be selected through an application process, according to the CRITFC. Applications are due by Friday, May 31. Students interested in applying can scan the QR code or apply online.
20 sixth and seventh grade students from the Yakama, Umatilla, Warm Springs and Nez Perce will be selected for the camp. All food and lodging will be provided at the camp and a stipend is available upon successful completion.
