Tri-Cities first Hispanic bakery closes its doors after more than 50 years in business

PASCO, Wash.- Castilleja’s Bakery celebrates last day before permanent closure.

Carla Medina, the granddaughter of the original founders of the bakery, Ramiro Sebastian and Concha Castilleja announced the bakery would be permanently closed after Jan. 6, 2025.

“Although this may seem bittersweet, we know the legacy and memories will live on” Said Medina.

Castilleja’s bakery was the first Hispanic Bakery in the Tri-Cities area serving their famous Mexican sweet bread.

“The Castilleja children were a great part of the success of the bakery” Added Medina “They were not only employees with warm smiles and friendly conversation, but family to so many”

The bakery first opened in 1972 in Pasco.

” It has been honor to provide you with our true pride and joy, our family Jewel, our treasured “sweet bread”. Thank you!” Said Medina
