Tri-Cities Airport works through tech outage

PASCO, Wash. – Businesses worldwide struggled this morning because of a major tech outage, but the Tri-Cities Airport worked through it.

“Well, we had some delays. In our first bank of flights, we had some delays,” Buck Taft, Director of Operations at the Tri-Cities Airport said. “And then we had one cancellation.”

The airport is almost back to normal now, but Taft is unsure of how the morning delays will affect the flights later in the night.

The Tri-Cities Airport website has a flight tracker and provides live updates to their schedule.

Taft told Non-Stop Local that tech problems are difficult to foresee.

“There’s not much we could do to prepare for this,” Taft said. “Each airline has their own data, their own software, their own system. So everybody would be impacted differently.”

The outage affected different parts of the airport office. Taft said some people weren’t affected and were able to work through the outage, while others couldn’t even log onto their computers.

Local banks seemed to be able to get through the Microsoft outage. Non-Stop Local spoke to a few banks about the outage, but they were not willing to provide a comment on camera. Gesa Credit Union said they did not experience any setbacks today.
