TOPPENISH, Wash. – A trailer being used as a dog kennel caught fire Monday afternoon in Toppenish according to Yakima County Fire District 5 Deputy Fire Chief Ken Robillard.
Robillard says the fire was reportedly started around 5:46 p.m. on S McKinley Road by an improperly installed wood stove that was being used to heat the trailer.
Crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings, however the trailer was burned to the ground.
Robillard reports that no people were injured but cannot confirm if any animals were injured.
S McKinley Road was closed for a short time for the fire but has since been reopened.
