Toxic algae detected in Snake River near Charbonneau Park

TRI-CITIES, Wash.-Toxic algae was detected in the Snake River on Aug. 21 and the Army Corps of Engineers is reminding people to be cautious around the water at two popular beaches.

According to the USACE, the blue-green algae was recently spotted at Charbonneau beach and Fishhook beach.

When toxic algae is present people should not swim or ingest the water, should avoid scummy areas when boating and should keep their pets out of the water, according to reminders posted by the USACE.
