Toppenish woman killed in wrong-way crash on I-82 near Zillah

YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash.-One woman is dead after a wrong-way, three car crash near Zillah on May 19.

Washington State Patrol Troopers responded to the crash on I-82 about five miles west of Zillah around 10:47 p.m.

A 27-year-old Toppenish woman in a Subaru Legacy was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes when she hit a Chevy Cruze in the left westbound lane. According to the WSP, the Chevy then hit a Dodge Charger.

The woman was transported to the hospital in Yakima where she died from her injuries, her next-of-kin has not yet been notified of her death.

The driver of the Chevy, a 22-year-old Yakima man was also transported to the hospital, while the driver of the Charger, a 21-year-old Union Gap man, was uninjured in the crash. All three drivers were wearing seatbelts, according to the WSP.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, however, drugs or alcohol were involved, according to the WSP.
