Three hospitalized after crash on I-82 near Toppenish

YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash.-Three people were hospitalized in a crash on I-82 near Toppenish on the night of May 2.

Washington State Patrol Troopers responded to the two-car crash in the eastbound lanes of I-82 near milepost 50 about three miles north of Toppenish around 8:03 p.m.

According to the WSP, the two cars involved in the crash, a Kia Optima and a Toyota Rav4, were both heading eastbound when the Kia hit the Toyota.

The two people in the Toyota, a 53-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man, both from Sunnyside, were taken to the hospital after the crash.

A 20-year-old Prosser man who was a passenger in the Kia was also hospitalized. The driver of the Kia, a 21-year-old Hermiston man was uninjured.

The official cause of the crash is still under investigation, however, the Kia was being driven at a high rate of speed, according to the WSP.
