PORTLAND, Ore.-Fall is the perfect time for some upkeep and maintenance both inside and outside your home.

As the yard work season winds down and people prepare their homes for the winter months Pacific Power is reminding everyone of some fall safety tips.

“Fall is a great time to check the condition of your trees and a good opportunity to prune them before they become an issue once storms start,” said Jeremy Gee, Pacific Power’s vice president of health and safety.

Fall safety tips for your yard and home.

Use caution around all electric lines.Use only wooden or fiberglass ladders around power lines.Be aware of overhead electrical wires when working outside or on the roof.Never use electrical tools near pools or wet areas.Plant trees and shrubs away from meters, cabinets and transformers.Be aware of the location of underground power lines when digging. Call 811 to have lines marked before digging.
