RICHLAND, Wash. – The HAPO “Live at 5 Summer Concert Festival” celebrates 20 years of music and community. The annual event returned on May 23. According to Jen Little, the Live at Five concert series promoter, the family event is held every year throughout the summer.
Little said that every Thursday from 5 pm to 9 pm, the community gathers at John Dam Plaza to hear good music, taste great food, and enjoy each other’s company.
“We do an 11-week series,” said Little. We will go all the way to August 8. It will be our last one. We are taking off the Fourth of July. We will not have a concert that Thursday night.”
According to Little, there will be something for everyone there, including a kids’ play zone, 25 vendors, and Knockerball Tri-Cities. Little says to bring chairs or a blanket if you want to sit down somewhere.
She said she has branched out to bring in bands from everywhere.
Little said that in addition to promoting the bands, they try hard to support and promote local businesses during the event, from the small ones to the bigger ones.
“It helps give them exposure, and of course, they have great sales during the event when we’re out there,” Little said. “They get seen by other businesses that want to pick them up and have them go out and be a part of their events as well.”
The Knockdowns will perform at 5 pm on June 6, the third week of the concert festival.
The HAPO Live at Five Concert Festival is free to everyone.
