KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash.-A search and rescue near Umptanum Falls ended with a family safely reunited with their 16-year-old son on Thanksgiving night.
A family was driving on Umptanum Road north of the Umptanum Falls Trailhead around 4:30 p.m. when their son, who was on an electric motorcycle in front of the family car, took a wrong turn and disappeared.
According to a social media post from the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office, the family contacted 911 around 6:30 p.m. due to the fact that their son was lost in unfamiliar surrounding, the battery charge on the motorcycle was dying and he had no food or water with him.
Off-road vehicle trained KCSO Deputies and Kittitas County Search and Rescue volunteers responded to the area and searched for the teenager.
Around 10:15 p.m., the teenager was found about four miles from where he disappeared, according to the KCSO.
The teenager was unharmed and reunited with his family for Thanksgiving.
