PROSSER, Wash.-A teenager was detained on suspicion of reckless driving in a Prosser school zone on the morning of Dec. 5.
A Prosser PD officer tried to stop the 15-year-old boy who was driving recklessly through the school zone around 7:47 a.m., according to a press release on the incident.
The driver stopped near the intersection of Alexander Court and Benson Avenue after a short chase.
According to Prosser PD, the teen was taken into custody on suspicion of reckless driving, attempting to elude police and driving without a license.
Under Washington State law the speed limit in school zones, including playgrounds or crosswalks, is 20 miles per hour and traffic fines are doubled in school zones and may not be reduced or suspended.
