Teen arrested for social media threats against Irrigon Junior-Senior High

MORROW COUNTY, Wash.-A suspect has been arrested for allegedly threatening to bring a gun to Irrigon Junior-Senior High School on Sept. 23.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested on Sept. 22 for making the threat on social media, according to the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office.

The Irrigon School District became aware of the threat around 10:20 p.m. on Sudnay, Sept. 22 that a student was possibly planning to bring a gun to school on Monday, Sept. 23.

There is no safety concerns at this time, according to the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, the Morrow County Juvenile Department, the FBI and the Morrow County School District are investigating the incident.

“I want everyone to know that we take these situations very serious and will investigate fully,” said Morrow County Sheriff Bowles. “Incidents like these will be investigated and perpetrators will be arrested. Safety is our primary objective.”

According to the school district, the student was quickly identified by the MCSO and there will be an increased presence of law enforcement to ensure the safety of all students and staff on Sept. 23.
