KENNEWICK, Wash. – A teen was arrested in Kennewick for an outstanding warrant on Thursday, according to the Kennewick Police Department.
KPD reports that the 15-year-old was found in the 2700 block of West Kennewick Avenue near a McDonald’s at 4:06 p.m. Officers made contact with the teen who was seen allegedly throwing something into a garbage can.
The teen reportedly started running away and was arrested after a short chase. KPD says the item thrown into the garbage was a loaded handgun.
KPD says the 15-year-old was arrested for his warrant and for alleged unlawful firearm possession. An investigation is ongoing.
The teen was reportedly booked into the Juvenile Justice Center.
