YAKIMA, Wash.- Officials arrested three suspects after police were led on a chase that resulted in several shots fired and multiple car accidents along 40th Ave. in Yakima.
According to Yvette Inzunza from the Yakima Police Department, at 1:52 p.m., officers arrived at Sargent Hubbard Park for reports of shots fired. After police attempted to stop an SUV in question, the suspect escaped from police near 40th Ave and Summitview Ave.
Police say they lost sight of the car until a car crash happened at 40th Ave. and Richey Rd. when the suspect hit another car. At this point, police were able to arrest a suspect who was identified as a minor. The minor had non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and remaining passenger continued to elude police when they hit 2 additional cars on 40th Ave. and Englewood Ave.
The driver and two other suspects abandoned their car and began running from the police. SWAT, alongside police, were able to capture the suspects. The driver of the SVU had non-life-threatening injuries.
Police report that crash victims in both accidents sustained non-life-threatening injuries, but information about their conditions is unknown at this time.
The driver of the car is charged with Drive-by shooting, 2 counts of Vehicular Assault, and 2 counts of hit-and-run. Both suspect passengers are accused of the Drive-by shooting.
Police have closed 40th Ave. from Lincoln Ave. to Kern Rd. for 4-6 hours for the investigation. Police ask the public to avoid the area.
