RICHLAND, Wash.-A suspected DUI driver is behind bars after crashing into Lewis and Clark Elementary School.
Richland Police responded to the crash at the school, located at 415 Jadwin Avenue, around 1 a.m. on Nov. 30.
A caller informed RPD that a car with multiple people inside had crashed onto the school grounds and people had run from the car.
The driver of the car tried to drive away, but got stuck in the rock landscaping, according to an RPD social media post on the incident. The driver tried to run from the scene, but was caught nearby and arrested.
Landscaping at the school and the rock wall of the building were damaged in the crash and the bumper of the suspect’s car was found inside the building.
According to the RPD, the driver, a 20-year-old man, was booked into the Benton County Jail on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.
