Suspect in Kennewick SWAT situation arrested for kidnapping

KENNEWICK, Wash. – A man was taken into custody on Monday for allegedly taking a woman against her will on Wed., Feb. 21, according to the Kennewick Police Department.

KPD initially requested for the community to be on the lookout for the 44-year-old kidnapped woman on the morning of Feb. 21. She was later found safe around 2 p.m.

On Thu., Feb. 22, a home on West Sixth Avenue and Conway Street in Kennewick was contained by officers and Tri-City Regional SWAT. People leaving the home believed that the kidnapping suspect was inside.

The man was not found at the home following the SWAT situation.

KPD says an off-duty officer spotted the man at a Kennewick business on Mon., Feb. 26. He was taken into custody without incident and was booked on charges of second degree kidnapping, first degree burglary and second degree assault.

Court documents say he is currently on a 72-hour felony hold with $200,000 bail.
