RICHLAND, Wash. – A person was detained following a weapons complaint at Howard Amon Park in Richland on Wedensday, according to the Richland Police Department.
RPD says it received a call at 12:38 p.m. to reports of a weapons complaint behind the Sterlings Restaurant.
Officers detained the suspect, who RPD’s Claire Venema said did not resist.
RPD says officers searched the area but could not find a weapon, despite initial reports saying that someone was brandishing a weapon.
The area was cleared around 1 p.m. according to Venema. George Washington Way was closed during the investigation but has since been reopened.
There is no current threat to the public, per Venema.
