KENNEWICK, Wash.-Columbia Ability Alliance is holding a 48-hour Giving Blitz Aug. 7 and 8.

The first-ever 48-hour virtual fundraiser runs from 12:01 a.m. on Aug. 7 to 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 8 and is designed to rally the Tri-Cities community to support and make a difference for individuals with disabilities and barriers, according to CAA.

“Whether it’s funding our employment and job placement programs, providing support for clients who utilize our Community Center or supporting students as they gain vocational skills in Opportunity Kitchen, the community’s generosity during the Giving Blitz will be amplified and felt across all our initiatives,” said Libby Blashill, Director of Advancement of CAA.

Every donation counts and every social media share helps CAA’s cause during the Giving Blitz, as the organization hopes to raise $50,000 in 48 hours.

Money from committed sponsors will be unlocked as donations from the community reach predetermined milestones during the Giving Blitz to multiply every gift, according to CAA.

“The acts of kindness and generosity we hope to see during the Giving Blitz will epitomize what it means to be a part of the Columbia Ability Alliance Community,” Blashill said.

In addition to donating, the community is encouraged to use social media to create their own donation links to share and community members are invited to attend two in-person events during the Giving Blitz.

Giving Blitz events:

Aug. 7: Round Table Pizza at 1769 Leslie Road in Richland from 4-8 p.m.Aug. 8: Summer’s Hub of Kennewick at 6481 W. Skagit in Kennewick from 5-8 p.m.

“Every dollar raised supports individuals with disabilities and barriers here in the Tri-Cities and gets us closer to our goal of $50,000,” said Blashill.
