KENNEWICK, Wash.-The Kennewick Fire Department is currently on the scene of a fire at the Sunrise Villas apartments on the 200 block of S. Union Street.
The fire started around 5:46 a.m. and burned four units of the complex, according to KFD Deputy Chief Michael Heffner.
Two of the units were occupied at the time of the fire, however, all residents made it out safely.
Some of the air-conditioner units collapsed into the apartments during the fire and it appears that the building will be a total loss at this time, according to Deputy Chief Heffner.
Firefighters are still actively fighting the fire, according to a social media post from Kennewick Fire Chief Chad Michael, and all occupants of the units that caught fire have been safely accounted for.
Kennewick police are assisting with traffic control and drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible.
Firefighters are expected to remain on scene for several hours fighting the fire and then investigating the cause, according to Chief Michael.
