YAKIMA, Wash.-A stretch of Lewis Avenue will become a one-way street on Friday, Sept. 13.

City crews are changing the roadway and installing signage on Thursday, Sept. 12 ahead of Southbound Lewis Avenue becoming a one-way street between Lincoln Avenue and Folsome Avenue on Friday, Sept. 13.

According to the City of Yakima, the traffic change was necessitated by recent housing developments in the area and will make it safer for pedestrians and traffic.

The change from two-way to one-way traffic was approved by the Yakima City Council at its meeting on July 16.
