State fire mobilization authorized for Kittitas, Yakima Counties to pre-position resources

OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington State Fire Marshal has issued state fire mobilization for Kittitas, Yakima and Klickitat Counties in preparation for possible wildfires.

Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization on Tuesday at 5 p.m., which was requested in response to hot, dry and windy conditions across the Lower Columbia Region.

The State Emergency Operations Center at Camp Murray is currently activated at Level 2, partial activation, to coordinate the mobilization and pre-position resources.

As part of the State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan, the Fire Protection Bureau coordinates dispatch and oversight of resources throughout the mobilization. More information on the plan can be found online.
