UNITED STATES – Starbucks is enhancing its paid parental leave benefits for employees at company-owned stores. Starting in March, birth parents will receive 18 weeks of paid parental leave, an increase from the previous 12 weeks.
Additionally, new parents who do not give birth, such as spouses, partners, and adoptive parents, will now be eligible for up to 12 weeks of parental leave. These benefits apply to employees at the 10,000 company-owned Starbucks locations.
However, the new policy does not extend to the nearly 7,000 licensed stores that operate independently. The enhanced benefits are available only to employees who work an average of 20 hours a week or more.
