YAKIMA, Wash.-The Inaugural Stanley Putt Golf Tournament to raise awareness and funds for ice sports in the Yakima Valley is set for Sept. 8 at Suntides Golf Course.

Presented by the Rink Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting and supporting ice sports in Yakima, proceeds from the tournament, dinner and auction will go toward the goal of a new ice rink in Yakima.

“The Stanley Putt is more than just a golf tournament; it’s an opportunity for everyone invested in the growth of our community to contribute to a cause that will keep Yakima’s long history of ice sports alive,” said Kristina Coppock, Board President of The Rink Foundation.

The Stanley Putt tees off at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8 and is open to golfers, hockey fans and the community and participants will have the opportunity to win hockey-themed prizes throughout the day.

Registration for the Stanley Putt is now open online.

According to The Rink Foundation, a new ice rink would provide adequate facilities for youth hockey, figure skating and recreational skating.

“We’re thrilled to bring together the community for this event,” said Coppock.

Suntides Golf Course is located at 231 Pence Road in Yakima.
