SPOKANE, Wash.-The son of a Sinaloa Cartel member will spend over 13 years in prison for drug trafficking in Eastern Washington.
Brian Jesus Zazueta, 23, of Sunnyside was sentenced to 160 months in federal prison on Oct. 30 and must also serve five years of supervised release after his sentence.
Zazueta, the son of Adolfo Zazueta-Bueno, a member of the Sinaloa Cartel, worked as a mid-level manager for a drug trafficking organization out of Mexico that distributed drugs in Spokane and across Eastern Washington, according to the Justice Department.
As a U.S. citizen Zazueta was able to move back and forth between Mexico and America and operated as the eyes and ears of his father’s drug trafficking organization, according to the DOJ.
During a search warrant executed in 2023 by Spokane Police and the DEA, Zazueta was found in a Kennewick apartment along with more than 42,000 fentanyl pills, methamphetamine, and heroin.
The DEA also found $6,000 in cash, receipts showing money transfers to Sinaloa, Mexico, drug scales, and ledgers with information about drug transactions, according to today’s press release.
