YAKIMA, Wash.- According to Yakima Fire Department, Fire Chief, Aaron Markham, smoke inside the Summitview Rehab and Health Center caused evacuations.

According to Markham, around 3:12 p.m.

All occupants were evacuated while Yakima Fire Department crews investigated the source of the smoke.

The investigation did not find any flames or evidence of burns.

Crews then discovered that the smoke was coming from the HVAC unit on the roof of the building.

According to Markham, crews were able to shut off the HVAC unit and ventilate the building.

According to Markham, when HVAC units get dirty they can spread smoke throughout the ducts or building.

No injuries were reported. Once the smoke inside the building is cleared all those evacuated will be able to return.
