These pictures show six adorable ducklings who fell into a manhole being rescued – who were then reunited with their mom.

A concerned passerby contacted the London Fire Brigade (LFB) after spotting the baby ducks trapped in a drain.

Firefighters were dispatched to the incident on Jail Lane in Biggin Hill, south-east London, where they found the ducklings still struggling to escape.

Less than an hour after they were called, the Bromley team had successfully freed the ducklings and reunited them with their mother – who was waiting anxiously nearby.

Pictures shared on social media by LFB show the team with the adorable babies after the rescue.

A LFB spokesperson said that teams are always “ready and willing” to assist animals.

They said in a statement: “Firefighters love animals too and we are ready, willing, and able to assist distressed or injured animals.

“The last thing we want is for people to put themselves at risk rescuing an animal themselves.

“We do encourage people to call the RSPCA in the first instance and we will assist if our specialist equipment is required, as in this case.”

LFB added that one fire engine was called to the incident on July 28.

The team arrived on the scene at 4:32 pm and the ducklings had been rescued by 5:20 pm.
