BENTON COUNTY, Wash. – Benton County Republican Party Chairman Semi Bird announced his resignation from the position on Tuesday, according to a press release from the Party.
Bird’s announcement says he will now “give all of [his] time and energy to [his] loving family.”
“Additionally, I have been a Republican my entire life, but as a Constitutional Christian Conservative I have come to realize that the Washington State Republican Party (WSRP) not only operates in conflict with much of it’s own party platform, but also in conflict with many of my personal values as well,” continued Bird in his resignation.
Bird recently ran for Governor of Washington in 2024, losing to Bob Ferguson (D) and Dave Reichert (R) in the nonpartisan primary election. He previously represented Position 3 on the Richland School District school board until Aug. 2023 when he was recalled.
