SELAH, Wash. – Selah High School was honored on Wednesday as one of the inaugural ‘Washington Schools on the Rise’ by the Association of Washington School Principals and Association of Washington Student Leaders.

The Selah School District says the award is given to schools that demonstrate student-adult collaboration on school leadership to create a positive culture and an inclusive and equitable learning environment.

Three achievements from SHS were noted in the nomination, including Future’s Night which allows students to shape their learning paths, the Course Promotion Week where students can explore classes firsthand and the 1/1 Registration Experience where students meet with counselors to ensure that their classes are keeping them on track academically.

SHS is one of eight high schools receiving the award. Toppenish High School and Moxee Elementary were two other schools in Yakima County named as inaugural winners.
