RICHLAND, Wash.- A cyber incident at the Richland School District has left students without access to transcripts and their grades.
The Richland School District said unauthorized access to its network left ‘ has left the platform it uses to manage grades offline. The platform is also responsible for finalizing and printing transcripts for the school district.
In a letter to parents clarifying the situation, Superintendent Dr. Shelley Redinger acknowledged the incident is “frustrating for our students and families while waiting for final report cards and transcripts” but assured parents that “our data is safe.”
The school district said it is working to restore the grading system and aims to have transcripts sent by the end of July.
Currently, colleges and trade schools expecting student transcripts are receiving a letter explaining the situation. According to an RSD spokesperson, there have not been any issues from schools waiting to receive transcripts from students.
According to the RSD, middle and high school students can access final grades through Canvas. For elementary students who did not receive their final report card, they will be available when the administration returns in August.
