RICHLAND, Wash. – A domestic assault situation on Nov. 7 resulted in the arrest of two people, with one suspect also being the suspect of an alleged shooting at the Richland skate park.
On Oct. 24, the Richland Police Department says officers got a report of a gunshot at the Richland skate park. The suspect was not found, however witnesses identified a victim that said a gun was pointed at them and was fired into the air.
An investigation found a 9mm shell casing and traffic cameras spotted the suspect’s car crossing Williams Boulevard heading northbound on Goethals Drive.
Two weeks later on Nov. 7 at 6:46 a.m., officers responded to an assault at a Motel 6 involving a man and two women, one juvenile and one adult victim. RPD arrested the man who allegedly attempted to strangle the victim.
The woman reported that the man, a convicted felon, was in possession of a firearm that he allegedly pointed at her face.
The juvenile got away in an Uber but was later found and questioned. An investigation found a handgun that matched the victim’s description.
RPD says the handgun had a drum magazine with specialty bullets that matched bullets found in a cartridge in the vehicle that was involved in the Richland skate park shooting.
Both suspects are facing serious charges, per RPD.
