YAKIMA, Wash.-One person is in the hospital after being hit by a car while trying to cross the I-82 on ramp in Yakima.
The crash happened around 10 p.m. when a 42-year-old Yakima woman driving a Jeep Liberty entered the westbound lane of I-82 from Yakima Avenue and hit the pedestrian.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the pedestrian, a 31-year-old Richland man, was attempting to cross the on ramp in a limited access area when they were hit.
The man was transported to the hospital in Yakima after being hit. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.
The driver was uninjured in the crash and the official cause is under investigation, according to the WSP.
