YAKIMA, Wash. – A Richland man died after being hit by a car while trying to cross the I-82 onramp in Yakima on Tuesday.
The crash happened around 10 p.m. when a 42-year-old Yakima woman driving a Jeep Liberty entered the westbound lane of I-82 from Yakima Avenue and hit the pedestrian.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the pedestrian, 31-year-old Juan Galvan from Richland, was attempting to cross the on ramp in a limited access area when they were hit.
Galvan was transported to a hospital after being hit. An update from WSP on Nov. 22 reported that Galvan died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Harborview medical staff notified Galvan’s next-of-kin. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
The driver was uninjured in the crash and the official cause is under investigation, according to WSP.
