RICHLAND, Wash. – Richland Fire & Emergency Services (RFD) and the Horn Rapids Homeowners Association (HOA) are celebrating a new Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) SaveStation at the Horn Rapids Community Center on Sat., Aug. 24.

A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Horn Rapids Main Park, located at 2600 Clubhouse Ln.

The SaveStation is the first public access AED in the Horn Rapids community. It is accessible to the public 24/7.

The AED is held in a temperature-controlled enclosure and sounds an alarm when opened. Inside are clear instructions on how to use it.

The HOA bought the SaveStation with the help of RFD as part of the Heart Safe Richland initiative, which aims to educate the community on Hands-Only CPR and increase the availability of SaveStations.

This is the fifth SaveStation to be installed in Richland.
