RICHLAND, Wash. – Kagen Coffee and Crepes has been a staple in the community for the last 8 years. Kagen Cox, the owner of Kagen’s Coffee and Crepes, tells NonStop Local that this business wasn’t always the dream but rather a happy accident.

“When I first moved here to the area with my wife, someone mentioned that this space was available and that I should do something with it. I called and asked about it and by the end of the day I had the keys in my hand” said Cox.

For this month’s episode of Cooking with Cristian, Cox demonstrates how to make the perfect crepe.

According to the Institute of Culinary Education, the origin of crepes is a mystery. Researchers say that the crepe originated in France during the 13th century by accident after a housewife in Brittany dropped buckwheat porridge onto a flat cooking stone. However, others say that the crepe has been around much earlier and dates all the way back to the year 472 when they were offered to French Catholic pilgrims visiting Rome for Candlemas by Pope Gelasio I.
