OLYMPIA, Wash.-A new report details the extent to which a Washington State Department of Agriculture program helped address food insecurity and stabilize the supply chain at the height of the pandemic.

According to an WSDA report the “We Feed WA” program directed more than $133 million in emergency funds from both the state and federal-level funding to support communities facing food insecurity and the pandemic.

In partnership with hunger relief groups, community-based organizations, and food businesses, We Feed WA provided funding for emergency food for hungry people, while supporting local food producers and ensuring culturally relevant and nutritious food options.

Working with the Washington State Office of Equity, We Feed WA also worked to reach underrepresented individuals and communities throughout the state.

The success of We Feed WA over its first two years has led to continued WSDA funding, with $35 million being allocated through 2025 according to a press release on the program.
