SAN FRANCISCO, Cal.-According to a first of its kind national public school safety study, Washington is the safest state in the country for high school students.
The scholarship search platform Scholaroo analyzed various safety metrics, including crime rates and school security measures, in public school districts across the country to determine the safest state for high schoolers.

Scholaroo based its rankings on a state’s score across 11 school safety metrics, including bullying and cyberbullying, exposure to illegal drugs, school shooting incidents, forced sexual intercourse among students, physical fights and threats of violence with weapons.
According to Scholaroo Washington’s public high schools are the safest in the nation with the following scores based on a 100 point system in each category, with a score of 1 being the best.
