Remembrance event planned for 9-11 memorial in Kennewick

KENNEWICK, Wash.-Wednesday marks the 23rd anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 and the community is invited to a remembrance event at the memorial at the Southridge Sports and Events Complex.

The memorial will be open and accessible all day on Wednesday, according to the City of Kennewick, and the community is encouraged to drop-by throughout the day to remember the events of 9-11 and honor those who died that day.

The 9-11 memorial is a 35-foot-tall piece of steel from the World Trade Center in New York permanently on display at the Southridge Sports and Events Complex at 2901 Southridge Boulevard.

Starting at 6:30 a.m. there will be a presentation of the colors and posting of the guard that will be changed every half hour on the half hour, as well as moments of silence for the victims who died in the attacks, according to the City of Kennewick.
