ZILLAH, Wash.-School zones will be crowded with kids, bikes, cars and buses as students head back to the classroom, however, some simple reminders can keep drivers and students safe.

The Zillah Police Department recently offered a refresher on school zone rules of the road on social media, including.

School zone traffic safety.

Slow down: The speed limit in all school zones is 20 miles per hour when the yellow lights are flashing.Be careful: Be on the lookout for students walking or biking to school.

School bus safety.

When the yellow lights on a bus flash don’t speed up, but prepare to stop.When the red lights on a bus flash STOP and do not pass the bus.

When to stop for a bus.

One lane roads: Everyone stops.Two lane roads: Everyone stops.Roads with 3 or more lanes: Stop if driving the same direction as the bus.Turning lanes: Stop if driving the same direction as the bus.Median/Barrier: Stop if driving the same direction as the bus.
