KENNEWICK, Wash. – As of 1994, Congress designated MLK Day as a National Day of Service to honor Dr. King’s legacy and his pursuit towards a more equitable society, according to the United States Census.
If you would like to contribute to your community during MLK Day of Service, head over to the Columbia Center mall this Monday, January 15.
The Eastern Washington & Northern Idaho chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Psi Nu Omega, will be hosting a service event with the goal of collecting 1,500 pairs of new socks for men, women and children.
The sorority event titled, “Warm Their Soles” will be collecting new socks of various sizes and donating them to the Tri-City Union Gospel Mission in hopes of providing warm clothing for those in need.
The event will be hosted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Columbia Center mall in Kennewick near the food courts.
