PASCO, Wash.- 872,578 passengers flying out of the Tri-Cities airport in 2023 is a new record for the airport. With over 2,000 more passengers than the previous record set in 2019 of 870,890, PSC says more people are flying now than before the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This growth not only reflects the nationwide resurgence in travel, but also underscores the importance of flying local and the growing popularity of the Tri-Cities region,” says Buck Taft, PSC Airport Director.
In a press release, Taft thanks the airport’s growth in part to its airline partner, Alaska Airlines. The partner added a 737 plane to travel to Seattle that can host around 160 passengers.
PSC’s Allegiant Airlines flight to Las Vegas (LAS) was also increased from two to three flights each week.
“When the community supports our airport, it opens the door for more opportunities, one of which we look forward to celebrating in a few weeks when we welcome American Airlines to our region for the first time ever.,” says Taft.
The total number of passengers is counted through people who get on a PSC airplane. 2023 saw a 12% increase in enplanements with July setting a new monthly record of 41,719 passengers.
