YAKIMA, Wash.-Smoke may be visible due to prescribed burns in the Upper Yakima Valley on Thursday, June 13.
Yakima County Fire District #5, other districts and agencies and Yakama Nation Fire Management will be participating in the prescribed burns, according to a YCFD5 social media post.
Fire crews will start in the area of Goodman Road and will burn south of Ahtanum Road.
Although smoke may be visible, fire crews will be on scene and the fires will be under control.
West Valley Fire Rescue is asking residents to refrain from calling Suncomm 911 if they see the smoke and reminding everyone to verify if a fire is out of control before calling.
