Power restored after helicopter hit transmission line, caused outages in Benton City and Prosser

BENTON COUNTY, Wash. –

UPDATE 9:16 p.m.

According to Benton PUD, power has been restored to all affected customers. A helicopter hit a transmission line and caused the outage.

UPDATE 7:26 p.m.

According to Benton Rural Electric Association, BPA is repairing the damaged line. Crews will stay onsite to assist and updates will become available when more information is known.

UPDATE 7:04 p.m.

Officials report the outages are connected the Bonneville Power Administration transmission line and BPA crew workers are working to resolve the issue.

Benton PUD says it does not have an estimated time when power will be restored.
