Power restored after bird damages substation in Benton City

BENTON COUNTY, Wash. -Power has been restored to over a thousand Benton REA customers in Benton City.

The power outage was caused by a bird getting into the Acord substation, according to Benton REA.

Power was re-routed to get the electricity back on for customers as quickly as possible and Benton REA crews will continue to make repairs at the substation to get power routed back through the Acord Substation.

Over a thousand Benton REA customers are currently without power in Benton City.

The outage started around 9:16 a.m. and is affecting 1,094 customers. Benton REA crews are responding to the area to restore the power as quickly as possible, according to an Benton REA social media post.
