KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. – Law enforcement arrested a 22-year-old Wednesday night in Kittitas County for allegedly driving under the influence, ramming into police vehicles and eluding, according to the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office.
At about 5 p.m., a 911 call reported that a car was driving erratically on SR 97 south of Yakima. A Washington State Patrol trooper found the car and initiated a traffic stop, which the driver sped away from as the trooper was walking towards them.
The suspect made its way up I-82 and onto I-90 where deputies from KCSO joined the chase. The car allegedly sped up to 110 mph and passed traffic on both shoulders.
During the chase, the car hit two vehicles and ran over Stop Sticks that flattened its tiers. About 70 miles from the start of the chase just west of Cle Elum, a deputy performed two PIT maneuvers to end the chase.
The driver reportedly rammed into the two WSP vehicles before his car was pinned. He was then taken into custody.
KCSO says the 22-year-old Yakima man is facing charges of DUI, hit and run, assault, malicious mischief and felony eluding.
