WALLA WALLA, Wash.-Plastic recycling is returning to Walla Walla in 2024.
Beginning Jan. 1, Walla Walla residents can once again place bottles, jugs, tubs and buckets in their recycling containers.
Lids should be removed from any container that is being recycled and materials put out for recycling should be clean and dry, according to a press release from the City of Walla Walla.
Plastics, along with paper, cardboard, and aluminum and tin containers, will be baled and transported to a material recovery facility (MRF), where they will be separated and sent to companies that process them to create new products.
Plastics that can be recycled starting Jan. 1, 2024:
Bottles: 8 ounces and larger.Jugs: Milk, laundry detergent and more.Tubs: Dairy products, coffee and more. No clear tubs accepted.Buckets: No lids or handles.
