YAKIMA, Wash.-Perry Technical Institute’s Sunnyside Campus is expanding to offer a six-month Medical Assistant program.
Perry Tech announced the new program, expected to start in June 2025 on Oct. 28.
“We are very excited to have this opportunity to create an additional pathway towards a rewarding hands on career for our students,” stated Perry Technical Institute President Jason Lamiquiz.
The program will prepare students for entry-level positions in physician offices, outpatient clinics, health maintenance organizations and hospitals, where they will perform both administrative and clerical duties, according to Perry Tech.
Students in the program will gain a knowledge base of the human body in health and disease, including the study of vital signs and measurements, phlebotomy, electrocardiograms and laboratory procedures.
Administrative functions in regards to managing medical records, billing, coding and scheduling will also be part of the program, according to a Perry Tech press release.
