Perdue recalls 167,000 pounds of chicken nuggets after metal wire found in some packages

KENNEWICK, Wash. – Perdue Foods is recalling more than 167,000 pounds of frozen chicken nuggets and tenders after customers reported finding metal wire in the products.

Perdue and the U.S. Agriculture Department’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said the recall covers select lots of three products: Perdue Breaded Chicken Tenders, Butcher Box Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets and Perdue Simply Smart Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets.

In a Friday announcement reported by AP, Perdue said that the “very thin strand of metal wire that was inadvertently introduced into the manufacturing process” was found in a very limited amount of packages.

AP said as of Friday, there were no confirmed injuries or adverse reactions tied to eating these products.
